Easy Authentic Falafel Recipe

Falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or both. Falafel is a traditional Middle Eastern food, commonly served in a pita, which acts as a pocket, or wrapped in a flatbread known as taboon; “falafel” also frequently refers to a wrapped sandwich that is prepared in this way.


  • 1/2 Cup Soaked Chickpeas
  • 1/4 Parsley
  • 3 Tbsp Chopped Coriander or Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Onions
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/4 Tsp Soda
  • 1/2 Tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1/2 Tbsp Water
  • Oil for Frying


Prep: 5 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes

  1. In a mixer, add chickpeas, parsley, coriander or coriander powder, onions, garlic, soda, cumin seeds, and salt.
  2. Add very little water to it. Transfer this mixture to a bowl. In a pan, heat oil for frying. Meanwhile, shape the falafel mixture into round balls.
  3. You can also flatten them a bit. Once the oil is hot enough, fry these balls till they turn golden brown.
  4. Serve with hummus or make a wrap out of it if you have pita bread available. Serve hot. Enjoy!
