Mushroom Stroganoff and Herb Rice

You know how evening cravings are and fulfilling them is like climbing a mountain. But when I craved mushroom stroganoff and herb rice, was glad that I had the ingredients.


  • For Mushroom Stroganoff
  • 2 Tsp Oil
  • 1 Cup Button Mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 White Onion (small and sliced)
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1 Cup Fresh Cream
  • 1 Cheese Slice (optional)
  • 1/4 Tsp Pepper Powder
  • 1 Tsp Oregano
  • 1 Tsp Chilli Flakes
  • For Herb Rice
  • 2 Tsp Oil
  • 3-4 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1 Tsp Mixed Herbs
  • 1 Cup Cooked Basmati Rice


Prep: 10 minutes
Cooking: 35 minutes

  1. For mushroom stroganoff, heat a pan with oil. Then add onion and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Next, add mushrooms and toss on high heat. Sauté until they turn brown.
  3. On a low flame, add cream and mix. Make sure the cream doesn’t curdle.
  4. Stir everything and add cheese slice, pepper powder, oregano and chilli flakes. Mix everything well and if necessary, add salt as per taste. Remove from heat.
  5. For herb rice, heat a pan and add oil. Sauté garlic for 30-40 seconds. Then add rice and toss it. Lastly, season with mixed herbs. Cook for 2 minutes and its ready to serve.
  6. Serve mushroom stroganoff with herb rice and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
