A very flavourful prawn in coconut and tamarind curry from South India. Simple and delicious!
Ingredients
- 300 Grams Prawns (peeled)
- 2 Medium Onions (chopped)
- 4 Dried Red Chilies (roasted)
- 2 Tsp Coriander Seeds
- 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
- 8-10 Black Peppercorns
- 1/4 Tsp Fenugreek Seeds
- 5 Garlic Cloves
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Tamarind Pulp
- 1 Cup Grated Coconut
- Salt to Taste
- Oil
Preparation
Prep: 10 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
- Grind the coconut, one chopped onion, red chillies, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, peppercorns, turmeric, garlic and tamarind pulp with a little bit of water to form a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pot and fry rest of the onions till brown.
- Now add the coconut paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add a little bit of water and bring to a boil.
- Now add the prawns. Simmer for a few minutes until done, add salt and check for seasoning.
