Thai Papaya Salad

My husband was craving a raw papaya salad we ate in a restaurant a few months back. So, I planned to surprise him by making one at home. After looking for a bunch of recipes online, I made my version of it by combining 2-3 recipes. He enjoyed it just as much he did at the restaurant.

Ingredients

  • 1 Grated Raw Papaya
  • Handful Chopped Spring Onion
  • 1/2 Grated Carrot
  • 1 Sliced Tomato
  • 2 Red Chilies
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Tsp Crushed Peanuts
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tsp Soy Sauce
  • 2-3 Tsp Tamarind Puree
  • Salt to Taste

Preparation

Prep: 20 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes


  1. To make a tamarind dressing, add the red chilies and garlic in a crusher. Add peanuts and blitz it again.
  2. Now add sugar, lemon juice, soy sauce and tamarind puree. Mix well.
  3. In a bowl, take the grated raw papaya, add spring onions, carrots and tomatoes. Mix all the ingredients well. Season with salt as per taste. Add tamarind dressing and mix it well again.
