Crispy Rawa Prawns

Crispy Rawa Prawns this one dish is commonly made in many households in kokan (Coastal area of Maharashtra) A quick and amazingly delicious prawns which are usually served along with kokan style seafood thali. A perfect party starter, and also a delicious snack to go along with Chilled Beer!!


  • 1/2 Kg Prawns
  • Ginger-Garlic-Green Chilli Paste
  • Red Chilli Powder
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to Taste
  • 4 – 5 Kokum
  • Oil to Fry
  • For the Coating
  • For the Mixture of Semolina and Rice Flour (coating)
  • 1 Tbsp of Rice of Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Of Rawa
  • Add Little Salt
  • Red Chilli Powder


Prep: 40 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes

  1. Preparation time includes marination.
  2. Firstly, Marinate prawns with Ginger-Garlic-Green chilli paste, red chilli powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and most importantly Kokum (Garcinia Indica).
  3. Marinate the prawns nicely with all these ingredients, keep it aside for 1/2hr.
  4. Then coat it in a mixture of Semolina & Rice flour, shallow fry the prawns on a medium flame until they are golden brown.
  5. Serve hot with mint- coriander chutney.
