Falafel and Hummus

Coarse or smooth? Whichever texture you prefer, falafels won’t disappoint. This Middle-Eastern snack has gained popularity over the years and now it’s everywhere from salads to wraps to snacks. This nutty chickpea and herbs preparation is easy to whip up.

Ingredients

  • For the Falafels
  • Chickpeas (soaked overnight)
  • Coriander 
  • Green Chillies
  • 1 Tbsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Lemon Juice
  • Salt to Taste
  • For the Hummus
  • Chickpeas (boiled)
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Salt to taste 
  • Water
  • Oil

Preparation

Prep: 60 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes


  1. For the falafels – Grind the Falafel ingredients in a blender. Make sure it’s not too hard nor too soft.
  2. Make balls or patty of the mixture and deep fry in oil. Serve hot.
  3. For the hummus – Grind all the hummus ingredients in a blender.
  4. Add more oil if necessary.
  5. Take out in a bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes (you can also use spiced olive oil).
