This is one of my favorite kofta recipes. Easy to make and tastes awesome.
Ingredients
- For the Kofta
- 4 Raw Bananas
- 1/2 Cup Gram Flour / Besan
- 2 Chilies
- 1 Tsp Grated Ginger
- Salt as Per Taste
- 1 Tbsp Ghee
- 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
- For the Curry
- 2 Tomatoes
- 2 Green Chilis
- 1/4 Cup Ground Nuts
- 1 Small Onion
- 2 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 Inch Ginger
- 1 Tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 Tbsp Garam Masala
- 1 Tbsp Coriander Powder
- Salt as Per Taste
Preparation
Prep: 20 minutes
Cooking: 60 minutes
- First prepare koftas – Slice each banana into 4 pieces without peeling them.
- Boil it in the cooker, till you hear 1 whistle. Peel the boiled bananas and mash them.
- Add gram flour, masalas, salt and ghee and knead a soft dough.
- Apply oil in your palms and for small balls and keep it aside.
- Deep fry these koftas in oil till its golden brown and keep it aside.
- Prepare the curry – Grind tomatoes, onion, ginger garlic, chilies and groundnuts in the mixer.
- Add oil in the pan. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, hing.
- Add the tomato, onion and ground nuts paste in the oil and cook it for 2 -3 mins on medium flame.
- Add all masalas (turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala) and salt, let it cook for 5-10 mins, till the paste is cook properly and starts releasing oil.
- Add ½ cup water and cook for another 5 mins (You may add more water, depending on how thick you would like the gravy to be).
- Add koftas to the gravy, garnish it with coriander leaves and serve immediately. You may serve it with roti’s or rice.
