Raw Mango and Onion Salad

This is one of my favourite salads because it takes me back to my childhood days and summer vacations in Nagpur. My Nani would very often make it. I love its sweet, spicy and tangy taste. As we grew old, vacations were only during winters and raw mango is only available in the summers. Every summer, I would ask mom to make it and she made it the same way. Finally, I learnt from her and made it myself during this lockdown.

Ingredients

  • 1 Raw Mango (grated)
  • 1 Medium-sized Onion (chopped into small pieces or grated)
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder

Preparation

Prep: 10 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes


  1. Peel, wash and grate/finely chop the onions.
  2. Peel, wash and grate the raw mango.
  3. In a bowl, add the grated raw mango and onion along with all the spices. Mix them well.
  4. Salt and sugar proportion can be changed as per taste if needed.
  5. Now add some fresh coriander leaves and serve.
