For those seeking vegetarian starter options, try this high-protein soya chunks recipe spiked with Asian flavours. The Manchurian version is super easy to put together at home.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Soya Chunks
- 1/2 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 2 Tsp Soy Sauce
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tsp Ginger, finely chopped
- 1 Cup Onion, diced
- 3/4 Cup Capsicum, diced
- 2 Green Chilly
- 1 Tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 2 Tsp Red/Green Chilli Sauce
- 2 Tsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 Tsp Vinegar
- 2 Cups Water
- 1 Tbsp Cornflour
- Spring Onion Greens, chopped (optional)
Preparation
Prep: 15 minutes
Cooking: 5 minutes
- Soak soya chunks in hot water for 15 minutes. Drain and squeeze excess water.
- Toss the soya chunks in corn flour.
- Heat oil in a large pan and add the soya chunks. Sauté́ them for 4-5 minutes and remove from the pan.
- In the same pan, add remaining oil and stir fry garlic, green chillies and onion on high heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Add capsicum and soya chunks in the pan and mix well. Whisk together soy sauce, chilli sauce, ketchup, remaining cornflour and 3/4th cup water and add this mixture to the pan.
- Keep stirring till the sauce comes to a boil and thickens. – turn off the flame, garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
